The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 29437 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Built on the H45AL-C-3 series, it features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 0.0300-inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and improves surface finish at corners. The Zplus PVD coating is applied specifically for aluminum and non-ferrous applications, reducing built-up edge and extending tool life. With a 45-degree high helix angle and coarse pitch chipbreaker geometry, this end mill promotes aggressive chip evacuation during roughing operations. It is a single-end, centercutting tool suited for machinists running CNC mills in production or job-shop environments.
This end mill is engineered primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metal cutting, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The long-length configuration with a 2-inch LOC and 4-inch overall length makes it suitable for deeper pocketing, slotting, and peripheral milling passes where standard-length tools fall short. The straight-cylindrical shank is sized at 0.5 inches and is rated for use with high-precision toolholders to maintain runout control. Machinists performing roughing operations on aluminum workpieces in aerospace, mold, or general machining applications will find this geometry well-suited to high-feed, high-depth strategies.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders on CNC milling machines. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H45AL-C-3 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification to keep runout within the 0.0003-inch TIR maximum. Verify tool projection and runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, particularly for tight-tolerance corner radius work.
