The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 17105 is a 2-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling of aluminum alloys and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 9/16 inch length of cut, and a 2.5 inch overall length with a matching 3/16 inch straight shank. The 45-degree high helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The bright uncoated finish is well-suited for non-ferrous applications where certain coatings can cause material adhesion. This tool is a single-end design intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This end mill is engineered for roughing and finishing operations in aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous metals. It is well suited to contouring, profiling, and 3D surface work where a ball nose geometry is required to produce curved or radiused features. The standard length configuration makes it appropriate for typical setups where extended reach is not needed, reducing deflection and improving surface finish. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling operations.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement or production ball end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 3/16 inch straight cylindrical shank, used in aluminum alloy and non-ferrous metal milling applications.
Install in a compatible collet or end mill holder rated for the 3/16 inch shank diameter, ensuring proper seating depth before tightening. Confirm spindle and workpiece are secure and machine is at a complete stop before tool changes. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines for runout tolerance — this tool carries a maximum TIR of 0.0003 inches, so holder cleanliness and collet condition are critical. Consult applicable shop safety standards and machine operating procedures when setting feeds and speeds for the target material.
