The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 04287 is a 3-flute, single-end square end mill engineered for cutting aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Built from solid carbide and coated with Zplus (ZrN), it runs at the elevated speeds and feeds that aluminum applications demand without galling or built-up edge. The 35-degree right-hand helix clears chips aggressively, keeping the cut clean in deep-pocket and slotting work. The reduced-neck geometry extends reach to 1.375 inches while maintaining rigidity, making it well-suited for cavity work where a standard-length tool cannot clear the wall. Machinists and CNC programmers select this geometry when they need center-cutting capability, right-hand flute direction, and a straight shank for direct collet or end mill holder mounting.
This end mill is designed for CNC machining centers and manual mills running aluminum alloys, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The reduced-neck, extended-reach configuration is particularly useful in mold work, fixture machining, and aerospace component production where pocket depth exceeds what a standard LOC allows. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits ER32, ER40, and comparable collet systems as well as Weldon-style holders commonly found in production shops.
Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous machining applications. Primary workpiece material code N (aluminum and non-ferrous). Fits standard 1/2-inch collets and end mill holders. No specific OEM equipment compatibility data was provided with this product.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth per your toolholding system manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts, as excessive runout accelerates flute wear and reduces surface finish quality in aluminum.
