The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 04135 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous machining applications. With a 1/4 inch (0.25 inches) cutting diameter and a 35-degree helix angle, this tool promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces built-up edge — two common failure points when milling aluminum at aggressive feed rates. The reduced-neck geometry extends usable reach to 2.125 inches while maintaining rigidity. It ships bright and uncoated, making it ready for use with flood coolant or air blast setups common in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers will recognize this as a purpose-built aluminum end mill, not a general-purpose tool.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in aluminum, brass, and other soft non-ferrous materials. The reduced neck and 2.125 inch reach length make it particularly useful for deep-pocket work where standard-length tools lack clearance. The straight-cylindrical shank allows direct collet or end mill holder clamping without adapters. Typical install environments include production CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and high-speed spindle setups where chip load and RPM are dialed to the workpiece material.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with 1/4 inch collets, ER collet chucks, or end mill holders. Suited for aluminum, brass, and similar soft non-ferrous workpiece materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series: 3 Flute, Square, 35 degree Helix, Reduced Neck.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout/tagout state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended gauge length and torque the retention nut to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to full-depth cuts, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish.
