The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 03480 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built with a 1/2 inch diameter and a 45-degree helix angle, this tool delivers aggressive chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The three-flute configuration balances chip load and surface finish, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. With a 1-5/8 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length, it handles moderate-depth passes without excessive tool deflection. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction follow standard CNC and manual milling machine conventions. This end mill ships uncoated, making it a strong baseline tool for general-purpose machining applications.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills where a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank is accepted. The 45-degree helix is particularly effective when cutting aluminum, plastics, and softer steels at higher feed rates. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, expanding its usefulness for pocketing operations. Machinists, toolroom operators, and manufacturing shops running production or prototype work will find this a reliable general-purpose tool for both roughing and finishing passes at moderate depths.
Designed for use in any CNC or manual milling machine accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, including ER32, ER40, and comparable collet systems or end mill holders with a 1/2 inch bore.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank with the appropriate collet or end mill holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the shank and collet bore for chips or contamination before seating the tool. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
