The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 03465 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for aluminum milling applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and three helical flutes ground at a 45-degree helix angle. The aggressive helix promotes efficient chip evacuation, which is critical when cutting aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. With a 3 inch overall length and a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank, this end mill fits standard collet and end mill holder setups. It arrives uncoated in a bright finish. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in aluminum, brass, or similar soft alloys will find this geometry well-suited to high-speed roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill is built for aluminum milling in production and job-shop environments. Its three-flute, 45-degree helix design provides the flute spacing needed to clear chips before re-cutting, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life in non-ferrous applications. It is a single-end tool, meaning it is replaced rather than flipped when worn. Typical use cases include milling pockets, slots, and profiles in aluminum plate and bar stock on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Designed as an OEM-series replacement and standard tooling option within the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum - 3 Flute - Square - 45 degree Helix series. Fits any machine spindle or tool holder accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware according to the tooling system manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates flute wear and can cause chatter in aluminum.
