The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 03090 is a single-end square end mill designed for milling aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. Built from solid carbide, it features a 3/16-inch diameter cutting edge with a 5/16-inch length of cut and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation in soft, gummy metals. Three right-hand helical flutes provide a balance of rigidity and chip clearance suited to high-speed aluminum passes. The straight shank measures 3/16 inch in diameter, and the overall length is 2 inches. This tool is sold as a single end mill without coating, making it ready for use in conventional CNC machining and manual milling setups where uncoated carbide performs well in aluminum.
This end mill is suited for production and job-shop applications involving aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous workpieces such as brass, copper, and plastics. Typical use cases include profiling, slotting, and light pocketing operations where a small-diameter, high-helix geometry reduces chip re-cutting and built-up edge. The 45-degree helix angle and center-cutting capability allow plunge entry where the toolpath requires it. It fits standard CNC machining centers, knee mills, and router-style machines with a 3/16-inch collet or end mill holder.
Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous milling applications. Fits any 3/16-inch collet, shrink-fit holder, or end mill holder on CNC machining centers, vertical knee mills, and similar machine tools. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum 3-Flute Square 45-degree Helix series.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle and workholding are powered down and the spindle has come to a full stop before changing tooling. Verify collet bore size matches the 3/16-inch shank before tightening; an improperly sized collet can cause runout and premature tool failure. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for feed rate, spindle speed, and depth of cut when dialing in the operation.
