The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 00362 is a 2-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 45-degree helix angle and a ZrN (Zplus) coating that reduces built-up edge and improves chip evacuation in softer, gummy metals. The 3/8 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1.25 inch length of cut, giving machinists a capable reach for slotting, profiling, and side milling operations. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. This tool is sold as a single-end tool on a straight shank.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual bridgeport-style machines working in aluminum alloys, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous materials. The 45-degree helix promotes aggressive chip evacuation, which is critical when cutting aluminum to prevent re-cutting chips and tool loading. It fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, or Weldon-flat holders accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank. Typical applications include production profiling, pocketing, and finish passes on aluminum plate and extrusion work.
Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous materials (Primary Workpiece Material Code: N). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum - 2 Flute - Square - 45 degree Helix series. Fits any standard 3/8 inch straight-shank toolholder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change mode is engaged before installing or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and can cause premature tool failure.
