The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 00047 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance aluminum machining. With a 1/8 inch cutting diameter and a 45-degree helix angle, this single-end tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and reduces built-up edge commonly encountered when cutting aluminum alloys. The Zplus coating provides lubricity and heat resistance to extend tool life in non-ferrous applications. Two helical flutes provide the balance of chip clearance and wall finish that aluminum work demands. This tool is sized for precise slot milling, profiling, and pocketing operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for light-duty to medium-duty aluminum milling in job shop, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments. The 1/8 inch shank diameter allows direct installation into collet-style toolholders common in high-speed spindle setups. The 1/2 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-mid-depth features where tool deflection must be minimized. Machinists working with 6061, 7075, and similar wrought aluminum alloys will find the 45-degree helix and Zplus finish combination effective for maintaining surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
Designed as an OEM-style end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank tooling in the End Mills for Aluminum 2 Flute Square 45 Degree Helix series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the shank to the recommended depth in the collet or toolholder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish.
