The HELI-COIL A1185-8CN750 is a free running helical thread insert designed to create or restore strong, wear-resistant threads in tapped holes. Manufactured from 304 stainless steel with a bright uncoated finish, this insert installs into a pre-tapped Heli-Coil oversized hole and forms a precision internal thread matching the 1/2-13 UNC standard. The tanged design allows installation with a standard Heli-Coil insertion tool. At 0.75 inches overall length and a 1-1/2D length-to-diameter ratio, it is suited for applications where thread engagement depth is a critical factor. Machinists, maintenance techs, and field service professionals use this insert to reinforce parent material threads in metal components.
This insert is used in thread repair and new thread installation applications across industrial, mechanical, and maintenance environments. The 1/2-13 UNC thread size is one of the most common coarse-thread fastener standards in North American equipment. Typical applications include restoring stripped threads in aluminum, cast iron, and steel housings, as well as reinforcing threads in high-vibration assemblies. The 304 stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance suitable for environments with exposure to moisture or mild chemicals. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use in Heli-Coil pre-tapped oversized holes following the 1/2-13 UNC thread standard. Intended for OEM-style thread installation and repair in metal parent materials using the Heli-Coil free running insert system.
Installation requires a correctly sized Heli-Coil tap to prepare the parent material hole before insert placement. Use the appropriate Heli-Coil installation tool matched to the 1/2-13 insert size. After installation, the tang must be broken off using a tang break-off tool; ensure the tang is fully removed from the hole before assembling the fastener. Follow applicable machinery or equipment service documentation for torque requirements on the final fastener.
