The HELI-COIL 5407-6 is a pipe thread repair kit designed to restore damaged or stripped 3/8-18 internal pipe threads to original specification. The kit provides everything needed to complete a full thread repair in a single package: a drill, a tap, an installation tool, a tang removal tool, and 10 wire thread inserts. HELI-COIL thread inserts create a durable helical thread form that reinforces the parent material and accepts standard pipe fittings after installation. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians use this kit when a tapped hole in a manifold, valve body, or housing has failed and replacement of the component is not practical.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a plumber, pipefitter, or qualified HVAC technician. Before beginning, isolate and depressurize the system and shut off all fluid supply to the component being repaired. Drill and tap the damaged hole to the kit specification using the included tools, then drive the insert using the included installation tool. Follow the tang removal step with the included tang removal tool after the insert is seated.
