Product Description

The HELI-COIL 06CPB is a hand STI (Screw Thread Insert) tap designed to cut the oversized internal threads required before installing Heli-Coil wire thread inserts. Ground to an H2 thread limit with a 6-32 UNC thread form, this tap produces a 3B class-of-fit thread suitable for precision fastener applications. Three flutes provide adequate chip clearance for hand tapping in a variety of materials. The plug chamfer - typically 3 to 5 threads - allows the tap to start easily in through-holes or deep blind holes. The tool is manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and measures 2.375 inches overall in length with a 0.875-inch thread length.

This tap is used by maintenance technicians, machinists, and field service professionals who are repairing stripped or damaged 6-32 UNC threaded holes using Heli-Coil insert systems. Common applications include thread repair in aluminum housings, electrical enclosures, HVAC equipment panels, and light-gauge steel components. It is a hand-driven tool and is not intended for CNC or power-tapping operations. Installation Notes

This tool is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician using a standard tap wrench. Secure the workpiece firmly before tapping and apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tap life and improve thread quality. Turn the tap in gradual increments, backing off periodically to break chips and prevent binding. Do not apply power-drive torque to this hand tap - breakage may result.
