The HAYS FLUID CONTROLS HAYS-2517LF is a lead-free, Y-body automatic flow control valve designed for hydronic and plumbing systems where precise flow regulation is required. The valve automatically maintains a set flow rate regardless of system pressure fluctuations, operating across a differential pressure range of 2 to 80 PSID for the 1/2-inch size and 3 to 80 PSID for the 3/4-inch size. It supports flow rates from 0.25 to 9.00 GPM and handles system temperatures from 32 to 212 degrees F. The lead-free construction meets drinking water compliance standards, making it suitable for potable water and hydronic heating applications. Licensed plumbers and HVAC hydronic technicians are the primary installers.
The HAYS-2517LF is used in residential and light commercial hydronic heating systems, chilled water distribution, and domestic water circuits where automatic flow balancing is needed at each terminal or branch. Both the 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch versions use female sweat (FSWTF) inlet and outlet connections, fitting standard copper pipe installations. The valve self-regulates flow rate to the factory-set GPM value without requiring manual balancing, reducing commissioning time on multi-zone systems.
Designed as an OEM-style automatic flow control valve for residential and light commercial hydronic heating, chilled water, and potable water systems using 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch copper pipe with sweat connections. Specification reference: ABV-SPEC-2517LF-003.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC hydronic technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off system water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Sweat connections require standard copper soldering tools and flux appropriate for lead-free fittings. Verify the selected flow rate cartridge matches the design flow for the branch circuit before commissioning the system.
