With a wire gauge size 40 diameter of 0.0980 inches (2.50 mm), this reamer holds a tight tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0002 inches, making it well-suited for work requiring consistent, accurate bore sizing. The 4-flute straight configuration supports smooth cutting action, and the bright uncoated carbide surface is appropriate for a range of workpiece materials. At 2.5 inches overall length with an 11/16 inch flute length, the RSB0980 fits standard precision toolholders and chucks used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tools.
This reamer is part of the HARVEY TOOL Miniature Reamers series, targeting applications where small bore diameters demand high dimensional control. It is used in holemaking and threading operations across aerospace, medical device, electronics, and general precision machining environments. The straight shank accepts standard collet chucks and drill chucks without adapter hardware, simplifying setup in both production and job-shop scenarios. No coolant-through capability means it is best suited for conventional flood coolant or dry cutting setups.
Designed as an OEM-style miniature chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank toolholders and collet chucks sized to accept a 0.0980-inch shank diameter in CNC and manual machine tool applications.
Installation and use of this reamer should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is properly secured before mounting or removing the reamer. Use appropriate cutting fluid or flood coolant as recommended for the workpiece material, and verify spindle speed and feed rate against manufacturer tooling data before operation.
