The HARVEY TOOL CHT0625-C3 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in pre-hardened mold steels and similarly tough ferrous materials. Measuring 1/16 inch (0.0625 inches) in diameter, it features a 140-degree point angle that reduces thrust and improves centering on hard workpiece surfaces. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life under high-speed cutting conditions. With an overall length of 63 mm and a spiral flute design, this bit is engineered for the tight tolerances and demanding cycle counts common in mold making and toolroom environments. Installation and use require a compatible toolholder accepting a 3 mm shank diameter.
This drill bit is suited for machining pre-hardened mold steel in both mold making and die shops, as well as general toolroom applications where small-diameter, high-precision holes are required. It belongs to the Miniature High Performance Drills series optimized for prehardened steels. Typical applications include blind and through holes in hardened workpieces where dimensional accuracy and hole quality are critical. The right-hand cutting direction and spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation in deep or interrupted cuts on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
Designed for use with pre-hardened mold steel as the primary and secondary workpiece material. Accepts toolholders sized for a 3 mm shank. Belongs to the Miniature High Performance Drills - Prehardened Steels series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder before operation. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and breakage at this diameter. Follow the machine manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant when machining hardened steels.
