The HARVEY TOOL 998547 is a square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metal, composites, and other machinable materials. This solid carbide, single-end tool features a 0.0469-inch cutter diameter — equivalent to 3/64 inch — with a 0.141-inch length of cut and a 1.5-inch overall length. The downcut flute geometry pushes chips upward toward the shank, reducing surface tearout and delamination on the top face of the workpiece. With a 20-degree helix angle and right-hand cut configuration, it delivers controlled chip evacuation in tight-tolerance applications. Machinists and toolmakers working with small-feature geometries will find this tool well-suited to finish passes and detail work.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and precision manual mills where small-diameter tooling is required. The downcut flute design makes it particularly effective when machining laminates, veneers, plastics, or composites where a clean top-surface finish is critical. The 0.125-inch shank diameter fits standard 1/8-inch collets, making it compatible with a wide range of milling setups. Solid carbide construction provides the rigidity needed to maintain dimensional accuracy at this small diameter, where tool deflection is a primary concern.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and precision milling machines equipped with 1/8-inch collets or compatible toolholding systems accepting a 0.125-inch shank diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with small-diameter end mill handling. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth to minimize runout and prevent tool pullout during cutting. Avoid excessive radial depth of cut at this diameter, as small carbide end mills are sensitive to deflection and side loading.
