The HARVEY TOOL 996945 is a solid carbide chamfer mill designed for deburring, edge chamfering, and countersinking operations on precision machined parts. The cutter measures 5/64 inch in diameter with a 90-degree included angle and a single end configuration. Two flutes provide efficient chip evacuation in light-duty chamfering passes. The bright, uncoated finish makes this tool well-suited for use in non-ferrous metals and plastics where coating adhesion is not required. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians typically install and run this tool in CNC machining centers and manual mills where fine edge preparation is required on small-profile workpieces.
This chamfer mill is intended for precision chamfering on small-format components where access and tool diameter are critical constraints. The 1/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collet holders and end mill adapters commonly found in CNC and manual milling setups. Its compact overall length of 2-1/2 inches supports use in tight-clearance fixtures. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional milling spindles. Typical applications include edge prep on aluminum, brass, plastics, and similar softer materials where an uncoated carbide tool performs reliably without risk of built-up edge.
Designed as an OEM-style chamfer mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard collet holders accepting a 1/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the collet holder. Ensure the collet bore matches the 1/8 inch shank diameter and that the collet is fully seated and torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification before running. Inspect the cutting edges visually before use, as solid carbide tools at small diameters are brittle and susceptible to chipping if mishandled during setup.
