The HARVEY TOOL 996408-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finish milling operations in hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. It carries a 1/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and a 4-flute helical geometry that delivers a fine surface finish while maintaining edge integrity under high-hardness cutting conditions. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and abrasive materials. At 2.5 inches overall length with an extended reach configuration, this single-end mill is suited for deep-reach finishing passes in tight cavities and hardened workpiece features.
This end mill is designed for CNC machining centers and high-precision toolholders used in die and mold work, aerospace component finishing, and precision part manufacturing. Its extended reach of 0.625 inches and a 0.113 inch length of cut make it appropriate for contouring and profiling hardened steel cavities where reach beyond standard stub-length tooling is required. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting geometry are standard. The normal pitch and fixed helix geometry provide predictable chip load calculations in production finishing programs.
Intended for use with high-precision toolholders on CNC machining centers. Suited for finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloy workpiece materials as designated by material codes P, M, K, and H. Part of the HARVEY TOOL End Mills for Hardened Steels - Finishers - Corner Radius series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Secure the 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank in a high-precision toolholder to the manufacturer-specified runout tolerance - excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on a finishing tool of this diameter. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate calculations are based on the 1/8 inch cutting diameter, not the shank diameter. This tool is designated for finishing passes only; do not use for aggressive material removal or roughing operations.
