The HARVEY TOOL 994408-C4 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built with a 1/8 inch cutting diameter and a 3/8 inch length of cut, this end mill features a compression flute geometry and an amorphous diamond coating that extends tool life and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The 2-flute configuration promotes chip evacuation in materials where chip load management is critical. With a 1/8 inch shank diameter and a 1-1/2 inch overall length, it is sized for use in small-bore and tight-tolerance work. This tool is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and precision manual mills used in tool rooms, job shops, and production environments. The amorphous diamond finish makes it well-matched for abrasive and composite materials, as well as non-ferrous metals and hardened alloys. The compression flute design is particularly effective in applications where surface finish on both the top and bottom of a cut is a priority, such as laminate, composite panel, and sandwich-material machining. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow standard spindle conventions.
Designed as a standard shank end mill for use in collets and end mill holders accepting a 1/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with ER or equivalent collet systems.
End mills of this size should be installed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with toolholder runout tolerances and collet maintenance. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Use a calibrated torque wrench on collet nuts and verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts, as small-diameter carbide end mills are sensitive to runout-induced breakage. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
