The HARVEY TOOL 990365-C3 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling keyseat slots in rotating shafts and mechanical components. With a 0.5-inch cutter diameter and a 0.156-inch cutting width, this tool machines precise Woodruff key seats used in shaft-to-hub assemblies across a wide range of machining applications. The straight-tooth configuration and AlTiN coating provide thermal resistance and edge durability at elevated cutting speeds. With 8 teeth and a 0.5-inch shank diameter, the cutter fits standard toolholders and delivers consistent results in production and job-shop environments. A licensed machinist or CNC operator is the typical end user.
This cutter is suited for milling keyseat slots in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its 0.75-inch neck length provides clearance for slotting operations where the cutter must reach below a shoulder or step on a workpart. The 3-inch overall length accommodates standard spindle setups on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. It is a solid choice for automotive, aerospace, and general precision machining applications where tight keyseat tolerances are required.
Designed for use in standard 1/2-inch shank toolholders on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and similar milling equipment. Compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per the manufacturer material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully in a collet or endmill holder to the recommended gauge line before operation — avoid excessive tool overhang beyond what the neck geometry requires. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the manufacturer cutting data for the specific workpiece material before engaging the cut. Do not use this cutter for plunge milling; it is designed for peripheral keyseat slotting only.
