The HARVEY TOOL 987154-C3 is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal threads in a CNC machining environment. Built from solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN coating, this tool handles the demands of threading harder workpiece materials where heat resistance and edge retention are critical. It produces a 5/16-18 Unified National Coarse thread profile using a 3-flute helical geometry that distributes cutting forces evenly and supports chip evacuation. The cutting diameter is 0.2450 inches with a 0.9440-inch length of cut. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, or precision manufacturing will find this tool suited to tight-tolerance internal threading operations.
This thread mill is intended for internal threading applications requiring a 5/16-18 thread form. It runs at 18 teeth per inch and is suited for use in materials where AlTiN coating provides thermal and wear protection, such as stainless steel, titanium, hardened steels, and similar alloys. With a 0.3125-inch shank diameter and a 3.0000-inch overall length, it fits standard CNC machining center tool holders designed for that shank size. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so external coolant or air blast should be used during operation.

Program the tool path as a helical interpolation move matching the 5/16-18 thread lead. Because this tool does not support coolant-through, direct external coolant or compressed air at the cutting zone to manage chip evacuation and heat.
