The HARVEY TOOL 986447 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. With a cutter diameter of 0.0469 inches (3/64 inches) and a 1/4 inch length of cut, this end mill is built for small-feature work where dimensional accuracy is critical. The 3-flute geometry paired with a 22-degree helix and upcut flute type promotes chip evacuation and surface finish quality in a range of workpiece materials. The single-end configuration and bright uncoated finish make it well suited for non-ferrous metals, plastics, and other materials where coating is not required or preferred. Machinists and toolroom professionals rely on this style of micro end mill for detailed profiling, slotting, and finishing passes.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and high-speed spindle setups where micro-diameter tooling is required. It is well suited for detailed mold work, medical component machining, electronics manufacturing, and precision prototype work. The 1/8 inch shank diameter allows it to fit standard collets and tool holders used in both full-size and compact machining platforms. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional and climb milling operations on most CNC setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for standard 1/8 inch collet and tool holder systems used in CNC machining centers and vertical milling machines requiring micro-diameter square end mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional familiar with micro-diameter end mill handling. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into the collet to the recommended gauge line and torque the collet nut per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Micro-diameter carbide end mills are brittle — avoid side-loading during tool changes and handle with care to prevent chipping the cutting edges.
