The HARVEY TOOL 982120 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision micro-milling applications. With a 0.5 mm cutting diameter and a 1/32 inch (0.03 inch) length of cut, this tool is built for tight-tolerance work in hard materials where rigidity and edge integrity are critical. The three-flute geometry balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and reduces chatter. The bright, uncoated finish makes it suitable for non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites where coating adhesion or heat buildup is a concern. This end mill fits applications requiring extreme precision at very small scales. The 1/8 inch shank diameter and 2.5 inch overall length provide compatibility with standard collet systems on CNC machining centers and high-speed micro-milling spindles. The extended reach design, with a 0.2 inch reach length, allows access to features in deeper pockets or recessed areas without interference. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC setups. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
Designed for use with standard 1/8 inch collet systems on CNC machining centers and micro-milling spindles. Compatible with workpiece materials including non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites within the 0.0000 to 0.1000 inch length-of-cut range.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully and concentrically in the collet to minimize runout, which is critical at this diameter. At 0.5 mm diameter, even minor runout or excessive feed rates can cause tool breakage — verify speeds, feeds, and depth of cut against the manufacturer's published parameters before running.
