The HARVEY TOOL 980578-C3 is a spherical abrasive bur designed for precision material removal in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built on a 1/8 inch shank, this ball-shaped carbide bur features a double cut tooth style and an AlTiN coating that extends tool life under high-heat cutting conditions. The 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) cutting diameter and 0.0670 inch length of cut make it suited for tight radii, contoured surfaces, and detail work where a larger bur cannot reach. Installation and use are handled by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and fabrication professionals.
This bur is used in applications involving cast iron, steel, and stainless steel. The ball head geometry and 270-degree included angle allow it to work inside cavities, blend weld seams, deburr drilled holes, and profile curved surfaces. It is a compact single-piece rotary tool consumable appropriate for use in die grinders and rotary tool spindles accepting a 1/8 inch shank. Overall length of 1.5 inches keeps tool runout minimal in handheld and bench-mounted setups alike.

Install the shank fully into the collet of the die grinder or rotary tool before tightening, following the tool manufacturer torque guidance. Always wear eye protection and appropriate PPE when operating rotary burs on ferrous materials. Inspect the bur for chipping or wear before each use and do not operate at speeds exceeding the tool rating for the shank diameter. Allow the bur to cool between extended cutting passes on stainless steel to reduce heat buildup.
