The HARVEY TOOL 980240 is a miniature solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. It features a 1/8 inch mill diameter, a 3/16 inch length of cut, and a 0.0400 inch corner radius with a tolerance of plus or minus 0.0010 inches. The 4-flute, single-end geometry supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The bright uncoated finish and 30-degree right-hand spiral helix promote efficient chip evacuation. This tool is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC mills or manual vertical mills requiring a stub-reach miniature end mill.
This end mill is engineered for use across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, wood, and composite materials. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it well suited for slot milling, profiling, and contouring where a radiused corner edge is required to reduce stress concentrations at internal part features. The short 1-1/2 inch overall length and 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank are sized to fit standard toolholders used in small-part machining and micro-milling setups.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills used in precision small-part and micro-milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop-floor tooling procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before inserting the shank. Seat the shank to the recommended engagement depth per the toolholder specification and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
