The HARVEY TOOL 980203-C3 is a miniature solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision metal removal in tight-tolerance machining applications. With a 1/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.003 inch corner radius, and a 3/16 inch length of cut, this tool is built for stub and standard reach finishing and roughing passes where edge integrity matters. The 4-flute, right-hand helical geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting at high feed rates. An AlTiN PVD coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and abrasive workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC tool setters working in job shops, aerospace, medical, and mold and die environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and composite materials. The stub length profile and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard toolholders in vertical and horizontal machining centers where reach is limited and rigidity is critical. Its center-cutting capability allows it to perform plunge entries as well as conventional and climb milling passes. The single-end configuration and short flute length prioritize stiffness, making it effective for fine detail work, slot milling, and contouring on small part features.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and composite workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Confirm shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before running at speed. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type. Inspect the corner radius under magnification before each use to confirm the edge is free of chipping or wear.
