The HARVEY TOOL 979902-C3 is a solid carbide tapered ball end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance and contoured applications. It features a 20-degree taper angle per side, a 0.062-inch small end diameter, and a 0.198-inch length of cut. The ball end geometry produces smooth, curved surfaces in slots, pockets, and three-dimensional profiles. The AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. With a 12-degree helix angle and 2-flute configuration, this cutter is suited for finish passes where chip clearance and surface finish quality are priorities. It belongs to the Harvey Tool Runner Cutters series.
This tapered ball end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where access to deep or narrow features requires a tapered tool profile. The small end diameter and short length of cut make it well suited for fine detail work in dies, molds, and complex 3D contours. The 3/16-inch shank fits standard collets and end mill holders. Machinists and toolroom operators working with hardened steels, stainless, titanium, and similar materials will find the AlTiN finish appropriate for high-temperature cutting environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or production tool for CNC machining setups using standard 3/16-inch collets or end mill holders; part of the Harvey Tool Runner Cutters series for tapered reach applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the 3/16-inch shank fully in the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as excessive runout on a small-diameter tool accelerates premature wear and breakage.
