The HARVEY TOOL 974033-C6 is a 4-flute solid carbide ball end mill engineered for material removal in high-temperature alloys and similarly demanding workpiece materials. It carries a 1.50 mm cutting diameter, a 2.20 mm length of cut, and an AlTiN Nano PVD coating that maintains hardness and lubricity at elevated cutting temperatures. The variable helix geometry reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive passes, making this tool well suited for roughing operations in difficult materials. With a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank and a 50.00 mm overall length, it fits standard collet toolholding on CNC machining centers. A 0.75 mm nose radius defines the ball profile for contour and 3D surface work.
This end mill is designed for machining high-temperature alloys (material code S) as its primary workpiece material. Secondary applications include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials (material codes P, M, K, and H). The stub flute and long-reach configuration allow access to features requiring extended reach beyond standard proportions. A 12.00 mm reach length and 9.80 mm neck length support work in pockets and contoured geometry where clearance is limited. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. This is a single-end tool sold individually.
Designed for use in high-temperature alloys as the primary workpiece material, with additional compatibility for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials. Fits standard 4.00 mm collet or shrink-fit toolholding with h6 shank diameter tolerance.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or chuck and torque the retention hardware to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the tool tip before beginning a production run, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools.
