The HARVEY TOOL 973608-C3 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. With a 1/8 inch cutting diameter and 3/16 inch length of cut, this single-end tool is built for tight-tolerance finishing and profiling passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in high-speed dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. At 6 inches overall length with a 3-3/4 inch reach, this is an extended-reach tool suited for deep-cavity and hard-to-access features. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC milling centers and machining centers.
This end mill is well suited for applications requiring extended reach into deep pockets, slots, or contoured cavities where standard-length tooling cannot reach. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces during peripheral and slot milling operations. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with conventional CNC spindle setups. Centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without pre-drilling. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace component machining, and precision part manufacturing in job shops.
Designed as a direct-fit tooling solution for CNC milling centers and machining centers using 1/8 inch collets, end mill holders, or hydraulic chucks accommodating a 1/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before loading or changing tooling. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully and evenly in the tool holder before tightening to manufacturer-specified clamping torque for the holder type in use. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, particularly important given the extended reach of this tool.
