The HARVEY TOOL 973557-C8 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal and finishing in demanding machining applications. Built with a 3 mm cutting diameter, a 0.1 mm corner radius, and a variable helix geometry, this single-end tool reduces chatter and improves surface finish across both roughing and finishing passes. The TiB2 (titanium diboride) PVD coating provides excellent lubricity and hardness, making it particularly effective when cutting aluminum alloys. Three flutes with a right-hand cutting direction and spiral flute form balance chip evacuation with tool rigidity. The 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank is tolerance-rated h6 for use in high-precision toolholders.
This end mill is engineered for use in CNC milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials including aluminum, cast iron, steel, stainless steel, wood, and composites. It belongs to the Variable Helix End Mills for Aluminum Alloys - Corner Radius series, making it well suited for shops running aluminum parts where controlled chip flow and edge quality are priorities. The center-cutting design allows plunge entry, and the regular-length flute with 9 mm length of cut supports slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in production or prototype environments.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Suitable for CNC milling machines running aluminum alloys, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, wood, and composite workpiece materials as noted in the product series specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank in a high-precision collet, hydraulic, or shrink-fit toolholder to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque — do not use set-screw style holders that may damage the h6 shank tolerance. Verify runout at the cutting edge before production use. Ensure spindle speed and feed rate are set per the material-specific parameters for the workpiece material — never run this tool at settings intended for a different tool diameter or coating type.
