The HARVEY TOOL 972693-C3 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling the semicircular keyseats required to seat Woodruff keys in shafts and mating bores. It features a 0.25-inch cut diameter, a 0.093-inch cut width, and a 1/4-inch shank diameter, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. With 6 straight teeth and a 2.5-inch overall length, this cutter is suited for precise, repeatable keyseat profiles in both production and job-shop environments. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This cutter is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where Woodruff keyseat profiles are required. Typical applications include shaft preparation in power transmission assemblies, gearboxes, and motor shaft fitments where a keyed connection is specified. The straight tooth configuration suits conventional milling passes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both prototype work and repeat production runs where consistent keyseat geometry is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style Woodruff keyseat cutter for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills equipped with standard 1/4-inch collet or end mill holders.
Installation and use of this cutter should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with milling operations and toolholder requirements. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the cutter from the tool holder. Verify runout and tool holder concentricity before beginning a cut to avoid premature edge failure. Consult the machine tool manufacturer specifications for appropriate feed rates and speeds when working with carbide tooling and AlTiN-coated cutters in hardened or abrasive materials.
