The HARVEY TOOL 972316-C3 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. With a 1/4 inch mill diameter, 3/4 inch length of cut, and 4 inches overall length, this single-end tool delivers tight-tolerance profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling. The 30-degree right-hand helix geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation while reducing cutting forces. An AlTiN coating extends tool life by improving thermal resistance and hardness at the cutting edge. The 2-inch reach length makes this end mill well suited for deep-cavity and long-reach setups where standard-length tools cannot access the workpiece.
This end mill is built for machinists and CNC operators working in tool-and-die, aerospace, and precision job-shop environments. It is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and CFRP composites. The center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry, supporting ramp and helical interpolation strategies in addition to conventional profiling passes. Its compact 1/4 inch shank diameter fits standard ER and precision collet toolholders common in vertical machining centers and CNC mills.
Designed for use in CNC milling applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and CFRP materials. Part of the Harvey Tool Miniature End Mills - Square - Long Reach, Standard Flute series. Fits 1/4 inch collet toolholders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the collet and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to full depth. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates wear on small-diameter carbide tools. Consult the machine manufacturer and applicable shop safety standards when establishing feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut parameters.
