The HARVEY TOOL 970812 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for precision milling across a wide range of metalworking applications. With a 0.187 inch (3/16 inch) cutter diameter, a 0.281 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length, this tool is built for long-reach work in confined geometries where standard-length tools cannot reach. The 30-degree right-hand helical flute design with three flutes balances chip evacuation and surface finish quality. The stub flute geometry paired with an extended neck length of 3.094 inches and a reach length of 3.375 inches makes it well-suited for deep-cavity contouring and profiling passes. It ships uncoated (bright finish) and is intended for single-end use only.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and N. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The miniature diameter and long-reach configuration make it a common choice for mold and die work, aerospace components, and precision parts with deep pockets or narrow slots. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.187 inches fits standard collet holders sized for 3/16 inch tooling.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with standard ER collet chucks and shrink-fit holders sized for 0.1875 inch shank tooling. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metal workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening to avoid runout. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material, as carbide tools are brittle under shock loads and improper cutting conditions.
