The HARVEY TOOL 968715-C8 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. With a 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch) cutting diameter and a 0.023 inch length of cut, this tool is built for micro-scale material removal where accuracy is critical. The 3-flute, right-hand cutting geometry pairs with a variable 42-degree helix to improve chip evacuation and reduce chatter at small diameters. A titanium diboride (TiB2) coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in abrasive materials. This end mill is single-end and center-cutting, making it capable of both plunge and lateral cuts.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and high-speed spindle setups where micro-diameter tooling is required. Typical applications include mold and die work, medical component machining, and precision aerospace part finishing where fine detail and close tolerances demand small-diameter tooling. The 1/8 inch shank diameter allows it to seat in standard collet systems without adapters in most setups. A 1-1/2 inch overall length provides adequate reach while maintaining rigidity at this diameter.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindle setups equipped with standard collet systems accepting a 1/8 inch shank diameter. Suitable for milling ferrous and non-ferrous materials where micro-diameter solid carbide tooling is specified.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the shank fully into the collet and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. At micro diameters, runout control is critical - verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts. Inspect the cutting edge under magnification before use, as micro-diameter carbide tools are brittle and susceptible to edge chipping during handling.
