The HARVEY TOOL 966031-C3 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The cutting diameter measures 1/32 inch (0.0310 inches), with a 3-flute spiral geometry and a 30-degree right-hand helix. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in ferrous materials. The long-reach, stub-flute configuration allows access to confined features while maintaining rigidity at this scale. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this tool for finish and roughing passes in tight pockets, slots, and contoured surfaces.
This end mill is suited for precision CNC machining applications in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments where small-diameter work is required. The stub flute length limits deflection, making it appropriate for milling hardened steels and stainless grades where chatter control is critical. The 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet systems. The single-end design is typical for this diameter class. Applications include die and mold work, medical component machining, and aerospace detail parts requiring tight tolerances at sub-1 mm diameters.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection within the Harvey Tool Miniature End Mills - Ball - Long Reach, Stub Flute series. The 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard ER and precision collet systems accepting that shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the collet nut released before changing tooling. Confirm collet bore matches the 1/8-inch shank diameter and that runout is within tolerance before engaging the cut, as excessive runout at this diameter will cause premature breakage. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended feeds and speeds for the workpiece material and coating class.
