The HARVEY TOOL 960524 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal, composites, and engineered plastics. It features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 9/16-inch length of cut (0.563 inches), and an 8-inch overall length, making it well suited for extended-reach applications where rigidity and dimensional accuracy are critical. With 4 flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, this end mill balances chip evacuation and surface finish across a range of materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge operations directly into the workpiece. This tool is installed by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shop and production environments.
The 960524 fits standard 3/8-inch collets and tool holders, making it a drop-in addition to most CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with ER or straight-bore tooling. The 4-5/16-inch reach length (4.312 inches) supports deep-pocket and cavity milling where shorter tools cannot access the feature. The uncoated carbide substrate is appropriate for applications where a coated tool is not required or where re-grinding is planned. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration match the standard spindle rotation of virtually all vertical and horizontal CNC mills.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch collet chucks and straight-bore tool holders on CNC vertical machining centers, CNC horizontal mills, and compatible manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder to the recommended grip length and torque the retention nut per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, as excessive runout will reduce tool life and surface finish quality.
