The HARVEY TOOL 960308 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding materials where standard coatings fall short. It features a CVD diamond coating, making it well suited for machining highly abrasive non-ferrous materials such as graphite, carbon fiber, reinforced composites, and ceramics. The cutter measures 1/8 inch (0.125 inch) in diameter with a 3/16 inch (0.187 inch) length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 1-inch extended reach, this end mill is built for shops and toolrooms requiring consistent, tight-tolerance results in difficult materials.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers handling composite layups, printed circuit board substrates, graphite electrodes, and other high-abrasion workpieces where diamond tooling extends tool life significantly over conventional coated carbide. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute configuration supports conventional and climb milling strategies. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry when the operation requires it. The extended reach design provides clearance in deeper pocket and slot applications where standard-length tools would not reach.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for CNC machining center spindles accepting a 1/8 inch shank diameter collet or toolholder.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into a matched collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production runs, as excessive runout will shorten tool life significantly on diamond-coated tools.
