The HARVEY TOOL 958950-C3 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling keyseat slots in shafts and mating components. It features a 0.375-inch cutting diameter and a 0.093-inch cutting width, with 8 straight teeth that produce clean, accurate keyway profiles. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With a 3/8-inch shank diameter and a 2.5-inch overall length, this cutter is sized for use in standard milling chucks and collet holders on vertical and horizontal mills.
This cutter is suited for machining Woodruff keyseats in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including steel, stainless, aluminum, and cast iron. Typical applications include shaft work in precision machining shops, toolrooms, and production environments where tight tolerances on keyseat width and depth are required. The straight tooth configuration is appropriate for conventional milling operations where controlled chip evacuation is needed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for milling machines accepting a 3/8-inch shank Woodruff keyseat cutter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a compatible collet or end mill holder rated for the 3/8-inch shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the cutter. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool in the holder. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and coating type.
