The HARVEY TOOL 949424 is a solid carbide drill mill designed to perform both drilling and milling operations in a single tool, reducing setup time and tool changes on the shop floor. With a 3/8 inch diameter and an 82-degree point angle, it enters material cleanly and transitions directly into side milling or slot milling without a separate center drill or end mill. The 7/8 inch length of cut and 2-flute geometry suit it to ferrous and non-ferrous applications where a compact, rigid cutting tool is required. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC programmers working in job shop and production environments are the primary users of this type of tooling.
This drill mill is suited for use in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills where combined hole-and-pocket work is common. The uncoated solid carbide construction makes it a practical choice for cutting aluminum, brass, plastics, and mild steels. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders common in most machining setups. With a 2-1/2 inch overall length, the tool maintains stiffness and minimizes deflection in typical shallow-to-medium-depth applications.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide drill mill for use in CNC and manual milling machines accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter toolholder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and should not be used if the tool shows visible edge damage.
