The HARVEY TOOL 949408-C3 is a solid carbide drill mill designed for combined drilling and milling operations in a single tool. With a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 2-flute geometry, and an 82-degree point angle, it transitions cleanly between plunge drilling and lateral milling without a tool change. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. Overall length is 1-1/2 inches with a 1/2 inch length of cut, making it well suited for tight-clearance work. Machinists and toolroom operators working in CNC mills and machining centers are the primary users.
This drill mill fits production and prototype machining applications where a single tool must handle spotting, drilling, countersinking, and peripheral milling in sequence. The 1/8 inch shank diameter matches standard ER collets and end mill holders common to vertical machining centers and small CNC routers. The short length of cut relative to the diameter supports rigidity during side-load milling passes. It is appropriate for steels, stainless alloys, cast iron, and other materials where AlTiN coating performance is an advantage.
Designed for use in CNC vertical machining centers, CNC routers, and manual knee mills equipped with ER collet systems or end mill holders accepting a 1/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC tooling and cutting parameters. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or removing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or holder to the recommended grip length to minimize runout and prevent pullout during side-load passes. Do not exceed the 1/2 inch length of cut during milling operations, as engaging flute shanks in the cut accelerates tool failure.
