The HARVEY TOOL 944812 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 3/16-inch cutter diameter and 8 flutes, this tool delivers fine surface finishes and efficient chip evacuation in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The single-end configuration features a right-hand cut with right-hand flute geometry and a 10-degree helix angle. The bright uncoated finish makes it well-suited for non-ferrous materials and certain stainless applications where coating adhesion is not required. A 0.57-inch length of cut (LOC) and 2-inch overall length (OAL) provide rigidity in tight-clearance setups.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills for slotting, profiling, and finishing passes on close-tolerance features. The 3/16-inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter, keeping the tool profile consistent and compatible with standard collets and tool holders. It is suited to precision shops, tool-and-die work, mold making, and general production machining where small-diameter, high-flute-count tooling is required. Machinists working with aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous alloys will find the uncoated carbide substrate particularly effective.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard addition for CNC machining centers and manual mills using ER or similar collet systems with 3/16-inch bore capacity.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and at rest before inserting or removing tooling. Use a calibrated collet or end mill holder with the correct 3/16-inch bore; do not over-tighten collet nuts beyond the tool holder specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting pass, especially at small diameters where deflection is a concern.
