The HARVEY TOOL 938216 is a solid carbide back chamfer cutter designed to create chamfers on the reverse side of a workpiece without repositioning. It operates at a 90-degree included angle and produces a 0.044 inch chamfer width. The cutter head diameter is 1/4 inch, with a 5-flute geometry that improves chip evacuation and surface finish in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bright uncoated finish makes it suitable for a wide range of base materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this tool in CNC machining centers and manual mills where back-side deburring or chamfering is required.
This back chamfer cutter is suited for applications where a standard front-entry chamfer tool cannot reach, such as counterbored holes, undercuts, and reverse-side edge breaks. It is commonly used in precision machining environments including aerospace, medical device, and general metalworking shops. The reduced neck diameter allows the cutter to reach into recessed features without interference from the shank.
Designed for use in standard 1/4 inch collets and tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where back chamfering or reverse-side deburring is required.
This tool is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician into a compatible 1/4 inch collet or end mill holder. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before tool changes. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation to maximize tool life and chamfer consistency. Do not use this cutter as a drilling tool or apply axial plunge loads not intended for this geometry.
