The HARVEY TOOL 912408-C4 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum alloys, as well as steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and composite materials. It features a 1/8 inch diameter, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 1-1/2 inch overall length. The diamond PVD coating provides exceptional hardness and lubricity, reducing built-up edge when cutting non-ferrous metals. A variable helix geometry reduces harmonic vibration during cuts, improving surface finish and tool life. Three flutes and centercutting capability allow this tool to plunge directly into the workpiece where needed. The 0.015 inch corner radius protects the cutting edge and produces consistent blend radii in finished parts.
This end mill is suited for precision slot milling, profiling, and finishing passes in aluminum and non-ferrous materials, as well as light work in steel and stainless steel. The variable helix design makes it particularly effective in thin-wall and chatter-prone aluminum setups common in aerospace, mold, and production machining environments. The regular-length flute and straight cylindrical shank allow direct mounting in collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, or high-precision hydraulic toolholders. Right-hand cutting with right-hand spiral flutes is standard. This tool supports both roughing and finishing material removal in a single tool, reducing changeover time in multi-step programs.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders including collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include aluminum, cast iron, steel, stainless steel, wood, and composite. ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and O are supported.
This tool is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank to the correct gauge line. Verify runout at the toolholder before cutting, as diameter tolerance is 0.0000 to -0.0020 inch and excess runout will accelerate wear on a three-flute tool at this diameter. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for collet nuts; do not exceed recommended clamping force on small-diameter shanks.
