The HARVEY TOOL 903162-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for material removal in hardened steels ranging from 45 to 68 Rc. It carries a 0.062-inch cutting diameter and a 0.005-inch corner radius, with 7 flutes arranged in a variable helix configuration that reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance suited to the elevated heat generated when machining hard alloys. With a 0.25-inch straight cylindrical shank and 2.5 inches of overall length, the tool fits standard collet chucks and high-precision toolholders used in CNC milling operations. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill belongs to Harvey Tool's End Mills for Hardened Steels - Corner Radius series, designed specifically for steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and hard alloys in the 45-68 Rc hardness range. The close pitch and variable helix geometry support both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool, making it well suited for die, mold, and precision aerospace component work where tight tolerances on hardened workpieces are required. It is a single-end tool with a short length-of-cut classification, favoring rigidity over reach in confined pockets and contoured surfaces.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys (workpiece material codes P, M, K, H). Rated for hardened steels from 45 to 68 Rc per Harvey Tool's End Mills for Hardened Steels - Corner Radius series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and spindle at a complete stop. Seat the shank fully in a clean, high-precision collet or toolholder and torque to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Coolant-through is not supported; ensure adequate external coolant or air blast is directed at the cutting zone. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or wear before each setup, as carbide end mills in hardened-material service are sensitive to interrupted cuts and improper runout.
