The HARVEY TOOL 901250-C3 is a solid carbide single profile thread mill designed to cut both internal and external threads ranging from 1/4-20 to 1/4-56, covering 20 to 56 TPI in a single tool. With a 0.18-inch cutting diameter, a 0.115-inch neck diameter, and a 1.5-inch neck length, this tool is built for threading operations in confined bores and tight-clearance features. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. Four flutes provide efficient chip evacuation and a stable cutting action. At 3 inches overall length with a 1/4-inch shank, it mounts directly in standard CNC toolholders.
This thread mill is suited for CNC machining centers performing precision threading on ferrous metals, stainless steels, aluminum, and hardened materials where tap breakage is a concern. Single profile thread mills like the 901250-C3 are commonly used in job shops and production environments when one tool must handle multiple thread pitches or when thread milling is preferred over tapping for process control. The 1/4-inch shank fits ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling commonly found in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with standard 1/4-inch shank toolholders including ER collet systems and end mill holders. Suitable for threading operations covering the 1/4-20 through 1/4-56 thread size range on internal and external features.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling specialist. Secure the shank fully in a balanced, runout-minimized toolholder before use. Thread milling requires helical interpolation programmed at the CNC control - verify G-code and pitch values match the intended thread specification before cutting. Inspect the AlTiN coating and cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; do not run a damaged tool.
