The HARVEY TOOL 890908-C3 is a solid carbide abrasive bur with a ball (sphere) head geometry and an aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) coating. Designed for aggressive material removal and detailed deburring, this bur runs on a 1/8-inch shank and delivers a 0.125-inch cutting diameter with a double-cut tooth pattern. The double-cut configuration produces faster stock removal than single-cut styles while leaving a smoother finish, making it a practical choice for die makers, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance machinists working on ferrous materials. The AlTiN coating extends tool life in high-heat applications compared to uncoated carbide.
This bur is suited for use on cast iron, steel, and stainless steel in both production and repair environments. The ball head profile allows access into contoured recesses, radii, and concave surfaces where flat-end or straight-profile burs cannot reach. It mounts in standard 1/8-inch collet chucks or die grinders and is appropriate for use in CNC engraving spindles, pneumatic die grinders, and flexible-shaft machines operating within the tool's rated speed range. Typical applications include weld blending, cavity finishing, porting, and edge radiusing on hard ferrous workpieces.
Rated for use on cast iron, steel, and stainless steel. Fits any die grinder, flexible-shaft machine, or CNC spindle accepting a 1/8-inch shank collet.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with rotary bur safety practices. Secure the shank fully into the collet to the recommended insertion depth before tightening — never run with a partially engaged shank. Operate within the maximum safe RPM for the bur diameter and always wear appropriate eye protection and, where applicable, respiratory protection when working on ferrous materials. Inspect the bur for cracks or coating damage before each use and do not apply side-loading forces that exceed the tool's design limits.
