The HARVEY TOOL 878593-C8 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 0.093 inch mill diameter, a 0.01 inch corner radius, and a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish at elevated feed rates. The three-flute, right-hand cutting configuration paired with a TiB2 (titanium diboride) PVD coating makes this tool well suited for aluminum alloys and non-ferrous metals, though it is also rated for steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in precision shops are the primary users.
This end mill fits into high-precision toolholders and is used in CNC machining centers for contouring, slotting, and profiling operations. The short flute length of 0.5 inches and a 1.5 inch overall length allow it to be used in close-clearance setups where rigidity and minimal deflection are critical. The variable helix design is drawn from Harvey Tool's series of material-specific end mills optimized for aluminum alloys. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with a straight-cylindrical 0.125 inch shank, making it compatible with standard precision collet and shrink-fit toolholding systems.
Rated for use with aluminum, cast iron, steel, stainless steel, wood, and composite workpiece materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and O). Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Straight-cylindrical 0.125 inch shank fits standard precision collet chucks and shrink-fit holders in that bore size.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state. Ensure the toolholder bore is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as even minor runout will reduce tool life and surface finish quality on tight-tolerance work. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for collet nuts or retention knobs.
