The HARVEY TOOL 872316-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in high-temperature alloys, hardened steels, stainless steels, and cast iron. It features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 0.005 inch corner radius, and 7 flutes arranged in a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish at high feed rates. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting abrasive and heat-resistant workpiece materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill for tight-tolerance finishing passes where edge integrity and dimensional accuracy are critical.
This end mill is suited for finishing cuts in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys in both production and job-shop environments. With a 3/8 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length on a straight cylindrical 1/4 inch shank, it fits standard 1/4 inch collets and high-precision toolholders. The short flute length and close pitch make it appropriate for rigid setups where radial depth and chip control are priorities. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting, right-hand flute configuration with no chipbreaker and no coolant-through capability.

Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility safety procedures. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully and evenly in a high-precision collet or toolholder to minimize runout. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use; a damaged corner radius will compromise surface finish and dimensional tolerance.
