The HARVEY TOOL 871316 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in abrasive and composite materials. With a 1/4 inch cutting diameter and a 1 inch length of cut, this single-end tool delivers precise, flat-bottomed profiles in demanding machining environments. The CVD diamond coating provides exceptional hardness and wear resistance, making it well-suited for cutting graphite, carbon fiber, fiberglass, ceramics, and other non-ferrous abrasive materials. Four right-hand flutes with a 30-degree helix angle contribute to efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this tool in production and job-shop settings where tool life in abrasive materials is a priority.
This end mill is built for dry or near-dry machining of composites, reinforced plastics, graphite, and similar non-metallic abrasive materials. The CVD diamond coating is not intended for ferrous metals. It fits standard 1/4 inch collets and tool holders, making it easy to deploy on vertical machining centers, CNC routers, and similar platforms. It is a single-end, non-centercutting tool, meaning it is designed for peripheral and slot milling rather than plunge cutting.
Designed for use in standard 1/4 inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and routers; intended for non-ferrous and abrasive materials such as graphite, carbon fiber, and fiberglass composites.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or tool holder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. CVD diamond-coated tools should not be used on ferrous materials, as this will cause rapid coating degradation.
