The HARVEY TOOL 868750 is a Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling semicircular keyseats in shafts and mating bores. Built from brazed solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for precision keyseat work in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. The cutter measures 1.5 inches in diameter with a 0.125 inch cutting width and mounts on a 3/8 inch shank with a Weldon flat for secure tool holding. With 16 straight teeth and an overall length of 3.125 inches, it is suited for both manual mills and CNC machining centers where consistent keyseat depth and width are required. Machinists and toolroom operators are the primary users of this cutter.
This cutter is used in machining operations that require accurate semicircular keyseats for Woodruff keys, most commonly found in shaft assemblies, gear drives, pulleys, and pump components. It performs well in both production runs and one-off toolroom work. The straight tooth configuration provides a clean cutting action on a wide range of materials. The bright uncoated finish makes it suitable for general-purpose applications where a specialized coating is not required. It is typically run on vertical milling machines or CNC machining centers at speeds and feeds appropriate for solid carbide tooling in the workpiece material.
Designed as an OEM-style Woodruff keyseat cutter for use in vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter toolholder or Weldon-flat collet chuck.
This cutter is installed and operated by machinists on milling machines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before mounting or changing the cutter. Seat the Weldon flat securely against the toolholder setscrew to prevent axial pullout during cutting. Select speeds and feeds appropriate for brazed solid carbide tooling and the specific workpiece material to avoid chipping or premature edge wear.
